First Team Roundup

Well what can I say about the first team results for the first five weeks of the season, simply rain !!! The only game the first team managed to complete was the local derby against Shrewsbury. Perkins batted first and posted a total of 163 for 9 of which the main contributors were Mal Serplett who scored 75 and Mo Arif who scored 34 . Shrewsbury failed to reach the target and fell short by 46 runs with Matt “Fozzie” Jones ending up with figures of 4 for 41 and bowled with so much energy he couldn’t even celebrate his last wicket. Let’s hope we can get some more cricket in before the next issue of the post. (picture right) New Perkins supporter.

Second Team Roundup

The Second team has actually managed to get some cricket in with a good win against Wem and a close shave against Shrewsbury. The victory against Wem started with Steve Wilderspin posting figures of 6 for 44 to keep Wem down to 147 all out. Then the Perkins batsmen took over with Matthew Boswell (47 no), Mal Serplett (27) and the skipper Danny Hough (21) seeing Perkins home to a perfect 20 points. The game against Shrewsbury saw the seconds lose a close fought game by 5 runs. Shrewsbury batted first posting a target for Perkins to win of 181. The seconds looked to have paced the run chase well but unfortunately fell 5 runs short with Danny Hough (55) and Andrew Wiggington (29) the main run getters. The game against Ludlow was rain affected but Steve Wilderspin (30) and Andrew Wiggington (21) did manage to get some batting in. The seconds picked up 20 points this week because of Albrighton’s forfeit.
