Youth Cricket at Perkins CC
Perkins Cricket Club believe that Youth cricket plays an integral part in ensuring the clubs future.
A strong youth section is good for cricket, the community and mostly the youngsters in developing their cricket.
From it’s early years Perkins Cricket Club has invested in it’s young cricketers. The club has England and Wales Cricket Board qualified coaches. Youth Coaching sessions take place on Friday evenings at 6.30 pm. The cost for each child is £20 per season, if parents wish to join the club they may do so.
Perkins Cricket Club has Child protection and welfare officers in place for the well being of our youth members.
Equipment is provided by the club, although certain items must be provided by the youth member or their parents. If a member wishes to use any of their own equipment, they may do so.
Although at present there are no league fixtures for the Youth teams, we do arrange friendly fixtures mainly on Sundays. In 2007 we do hope to run teams in the local youth leagues in the varying age groups. It is also planned to continue cricket coaching indoors during the winter months.
In 1996 Perkins Cricket Club’s Under 13 side were Shropshire & North west Champions and Runners up in the Subaru Club Championships.
Perkins’ coaching has produced many players who have gone on to represent the club in the adult version of the game, represent Shropshire at Youth and senior level as well as playing first class cricket.
